Guests – who are they?

Anime conventions usually feature new Guests of Honor each year. They are pretty much the celebrities of anime conventions. Guests can include voice actors (both Japanese and North American), manga-kas (Japanese manga artists), American/Japanese producers, costume designers, musicians and anyone else that makes a huge impact in the anime industry.

Also, anime conventions are a great place to see well-known deviantartists. I know they’re not “official” guests but too bod, they are to me. ^^ Usually they can be found selling their work at booths, and you may recognize their work before you recognize them. LOL

What Do “Guests” Do?

Guests will sign autographs, pose for pictures, perform in concerts, and do Q&A with their fans, and participate in panels as judges, and much more.

Tips:

• Make sure to get an autograph of your favourite guests.

• Also, you can usually have your picture taken with a “guest” too. Just be sure to have your camera on and ready before you approach a guest, that way they don’t have to wait for you to turn it on, position it just right, etc. etc. Don’t forget, they’re busy people!

Warnings:

• Don’t ask guests to sign a body part.

• Respect the privacy of guests by not requesting autographs or Q&A during their meal or washroom breaks, or if they’re being filmed/talking on the phone. My dad interrupted a TV. host while he was filming once, so my sis and I could get his autograph. I was mortified to say the least. >;[

• Autograph sessions may be time-limited – meaning at certain points lines will be cut off to avoid disappointing other fans. So, Try to avoid asking for extra autographs for a “friend of your friend,” etc.
