Convention Etiquette

Anime conventions are places to have fun, get autographs, take pictures, play games and ask people about their cosplays. Its part of being social.

The problem comes when people decided they are suddenly "cosplay-know-it-alls" and begin harshly criticizing, demeaning and making fun of other people's efforts.

It takes courage, and dedication to make your own costume and wear it out in public.

No one should run off crying to their friends because they were ridiculed for their prop construction, or told they couldn't sew, etc. With practice, we all excel at what we do, and we have to start somewhere.

Ironically enough, the people who seemed to be the biggest Anime con bullies are those who don't even dress up! It's easy to tell people they suck, when you've never even tried to make a costume before. Costume and prop construction are highly competitive and difficult hobbies. It's so much harder than it looks, so no one should be made to feel bad for their efforts.

Beck, a fan of cosplay-ftw.com says, "if you've got something mean to say, don't voice it aloud, a convention is a place to have fun and socialize among fellow con goers, not insult them for their efforts." And that's absolutely true.

So save the drama for yo mamma kids. LOL
