Plot: When ten-year-old Sakura Kinomoto opens a book in her father's study, she accidentally lets loose a magical deck of cards, Clow Cards, and their physical forms escape. Keroberos or Cerberus, The Beast of the Seal was supposed to be protecting the Clow Book when Sakura opened it but was apparently napping . . . for thirty years. It is quickly revealed that Sakura had some magical powers herself for being able to open the book. Using the staff Kero gives her called The Key of the SealSakura becomes a CardCaptor and it’s now her responsibility to retrieve all the missing cards scattered throughout the city by battling them and resealing them in the book.

Tomoyo Daidouji, Sakura’s best friend, films her battles with the cards and makes all her costumes. Li Syaoran, a direct descendant of the Clow Cards’ creator Clow Reed races against Sakura to capture the cards.
